DENVER, Colorado (CelebrityAccess) — The City of Denver’s River North Arts District is the home of Denver’s newest concert venue after the Mission Ballroom officially opens its doors on Wednesday with a concert by The Lumineers.
“Tonight’s the night ten years in the making, looking for the best location and design of any new club in the history of our great town. Mission Ballroom has arrived,” Concerts West Chuck Morris said in a statement posted to his social media on Wednesday.
“Lumineers wanted to open the room and what could be better. Their story of moving here less than a decade ago and developing into one of the biggest breakthroughs in rock history is a story we all in Colorado are so proud of. See everyone tonight,” Morris added.
The ballroom, which features a capacity of up to 3,950 guests, with seating for 2,000, features state-of-the-art sound and lights, large dance floor and multiple full-service bars.
The venue was also built from the ground up with the concert experience in mind and features tiered seating designed to provide good sightlines for concerts and live events.
The venue also features a modular, mobile stage to help scale the concert experience to suit the artist, and will use Mission Fair ticketing, an innovative system designed to provide equal access to tickets for fans while taking a bite out of speculators.
The Mission Ballroom will serve as the centerpiece of North Wynkoop, a new 14-acre mixed-use project by real estate developer Westfield. The development will include restaurants, a boutique hotel, and shopping with the Colorado Music Hall of Fame presented by Comfort Dental planning to make a move to the area as well.
The Mission’s concert calendar for the rest of the year is filling out quickly, with upcoming shows including performances by Trey Anastasio, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Herbie Hancock & Kamasi Washington, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Flying Lotus, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, and Weezer among numerous others.
“[There are] 85 acts already set between now and then end of the year. Amazing, since few acts, managers or agents have seen it,” Morris added.
