On the morning of October 9, 2022, just as residents of Bend, a suburban area of the state of Oregon, the United States, were about to get out of bed to have a regular and fulfilling Sunday, things took a dark turn as tragedy struck the Peverieri family. The 70-year-old Leonard Raymond Peverieri, a resident of Bend, was discovered lying dead in his driveway.
The police officers had been conflicted on how the deceased had passed, they initially ruled it a suspicious death, before ultimately ruling it a murder case. But whatever the case may be, the death of the deceased took away from his family a father, husband, brother, and stepfather.

Leonard Raymond Peverieri was a successful real estate investor and developer who was always very ambitious with real estate investments. According to US county property tax records, Peverieri purchased the small village of Millican east of Bend in 2010, in addition to owning several properties, including a house on Los Serranos Drive.
Besides being involved in the real estate industry, Peverieri also ran a recreational marijuana production business, but in 2018 the Oregon Liquor Control Commission withdrew his license for 13 violations of the state’s guidelines for permitted producers of the herb.
Peverieri was described by Jim Floyd, a longtime friend and business colleague of his, as a fun-loving individual who enjoyed deep-sea fishing in Mexico. Floyd acknowledged that he had not yet had the opportunity to get to know Raymond’s family but he was aware that Leonard has a wife, a daughter, and probably has further children and stepchildren.

Their friendship began when Leonard Raymond Peverieri sold a house to Floyd in 2015. Floyd claimed that they have remained in contact ever since the business deal.
What happened to Leonard Raymond Peverieri?
At exactly 5:30 a.m. on October 9, 2022, the Deschutes County Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a man lying deceased on the driveway of his home in the 21000 block of Los Serranos Drive. On arrival, they identified the man as Leonard Raymond Peverieri, who had a gunshot wound to the body. The police department’s initial investigation determined that the death was suspicious.

To gather information and identify potential witnesses, the police department started interviewing people, including neighbours. They even had a person of interest: a man who was passing by on a bicycle. But when the police got in touch with him to speak with him, they discovered that he was just a local of Bend who did not know what was going on.
A more sophisticated investigation was required, so The Tri-County Major Incident Team was called in to help with the investigation. Peverieri’s death was later ruled as a full-blown murder. However, there is no suspect in custody and the motive for the murder is yet unknown.
According to authorities, the murderer may no longer be thought to be in the immediate area where the crime was committed. Regarding the Peverieri family, they requested privacy so they may grieve the loss of their beloved patriarch. Peverieri was the eighth victim of a homicidal incident in Deschutes county in 2022.
Obituary
Peverieri was buried in a private ceremony. However, details of his funeral were not disclosed, partly in line with his family’s request for privacy to mourn their loss.
The case is still very much active and is said to be tried in court. Residents of East Bend are now left to look over their shoulders in panic and are still seeking answers to this mysterious situation.
