Following his appearence on The Jim Jeffries Show, on Comedy Central, the 41-year-old actor, DJ Qualls, revealed that he is gay. The actor most known for his roles in Road Trip and The Core took to his Twitter account on Saturday to reveal the news.
Qualls said on his Twitter account, “Yep, I’m gay. Been gay this whole time.” DJ Qualls went on to say that he was tired of worrying about the way people would perceive him, adding that it was a great fear of his to see his career negatively impacted.
Daniel Joseph, also known as DJ Qualls, first landed the role in the 2000 comedy, Road Trip, as the shy virgin, Kyle Edwards, who goes out into the world with some of his friends to get their hands on a s*x-tape that was mistakenly sent to one of the guy’s girlfriends.
The actor’s Internet Movie Data Base webpage also lists some of his other features, including The Core, Hustle and Flow, as well as The New Guy. Moreover, he also had a role in the 2009 comedy-drama, Last Day of Summer.

Qualls appeared in other TV shows like CSI, Breaking Bad, Lost, and The Big Bang Theory. Five years ago, he also secured a role in The Man in The High Castle. The Amazon Prime series explores the idea of what would’ve happened had the Germans defeated the allied forces during World War II.
Qualls has found work in other series and videos as well, including for Britney Spears’ “Boys,” as well as “I’m Just A Kid,” from Simple Plan. DJ Qualls had a small role in the zombie-apocalyptic TV program, Z-Nation, which was canceled this past year.

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, DJ Qualls discussed what his childhood was like, stating that when he was growing up, he was bullied relentlessly by other kids at school. It was for that reason that he chose to star in The New Guy, in addition to the “crapload” of money he was paid for the lead.
