BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — For those going through economic hardships, Maverick Car Company is offering free short term leases to families and individuals in need.
“So for the past 5 years we helped provide vehicles for people in need, but it was only one individual at a time," said business owner Freeman Dawson. "We wanted to do that on a larger scale and help more families.”
They just recently shifted their approach—to give vehicles on a three month basis and then make it available to someone else.
The hope is that if they have that vehicle for the 3 months or even 6 months, they can use that to improve their situation and get back on their feet.
And if you’re wondering what the specific requirements are to qualify for a lease, Dawson says it’s by a need basis.
“We don’t have any specific requirements, we just want to make it available to people in need," Dawson said. "We just look and see who has the most need and who would make the best use of the vehicle."
Maverick Car Company’s hope is not only to help struggling families and individuals, but to also inspire others to pay it forward.
“Our hope is that others that hear about this and think about how they can help others that are struggling and leverage their resources to do good as well.”
