BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — An 8-year-old broke an Idaho record after she caught a 36.5-inch rainbow trout.
Sophie Egizi set a new catch-and-release Gerrard rainbow trout record catching this monster from Lake Pend Oreille.
"Congratulations to Sophie Egizi on setting a new catch-and-release record Gerrard rainbow trout!" said the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. "The 8-year-old angler wrangled up the 36.5-inch monster while trolling flies on Idaho's famous Lake Pend Oreille in early October."
The previous record was held by a kid named Miles Landis for 14 inches, according to IDFG. It opened applications for Gerrard rainbow trout in 2016.
IDFG guesses Sophie's fish probably weighed close to 25 pounds.

The lake apparently has a well-deserved reputation for being home to many trophy trout. It still holds the certified weight record Gerrard rainbow of 37 pounds in 1947.
"In addition to big 'bows, the lake also recently produced a new catch-and-release record bull trout, set by Aaron Fox at 29 inches," IDFG said.
Gerrard rainbow trout in Idaho are unique to the Clark Fork River drainage, and have long been handled as a separate trout record species because of their notorious trophy sizes.
You can apply for records at IDFG's State Record Fish page.
